Raising Insurance Skills and Knowledge (RISK) Wednesday, January 13, 2010 Community Services Council Newfoundland and Labrador (CSC) will be delivering teleconference sessions and webinars on how to be a wise consumer of insurance products in the community sector. Raising Insurance Skills and Knowledge (RISK) Tuesday, January 13, 2009 Community Services Council Newfoundland and Labrador (CSC) designed and delivered a three-hour workshop in 2008 on how to be a wise consumer of insurance products in the voluntary non-profit community based sector. Sessions were conducted in St. John’s and 12 venues around the province between August and November. The project was supported by United Way of Avalon, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Insurance Bureau of Canada Atlantic (IBC), the Cooperators and the Insurance Brokers Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (IBAN). Code of Consumer Rights and Responsibilities Thursday, March 6, 2008 Did you know that the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) has a code of consumer rights? It has been updated recently as a result of recommendations in the Atlantic Task Force on Insurance Availability and Affordability. The code covers your rights to be informed about coverage and the calculation of price when purchasing a policy, privacy rights and complaints resolution, among other things. Progress report on commercial insurance in Atlantic Canada Tuesday, May 1, 2007 The Atlantic Task Force on Insurance Availability and Affordability released its Progress Report April 30, highlighting progress made by insurers, government and commercial insurance buyers towards implementing recommendations to improve the commercial insurance marketplace long-term.
Government Releases Consumer Protection Document Thursday, January 25, 2007 A new tool is now available to consumers when they purchase all types of insurance. Government committed to develop a document requiring insurance companies and brokers to improve disclosure to consumers so they can make informed choices regarding insurance products.
